Writing is a large component of many of your classes, so check out this blog for some great websites that you can utilize for digital creations.  There are multiple categories mentioned on the site such as Digital storytelling tools,  Comic strips tools,  Mind mapping tools, story starters, Writing mechanics (grammar and style), Graphic organizers,  and Tools for publishing students writing.

GoNoodle is a free website designed to get kids moving.  The site can be used as an intro to class, a brain break, or preparation for a test.  As we enter testing season, the site also offers a host of meditation and breathing exercises to get students in the right mindset. The videos on GoNoodle can be searched by category and are all only a few minutes long.  While the videos may seem elementary, we all know that middle schoolers would get a kick out of them as well as benefit from the movement and break from their seats. There is a highlighted video every day and you have the ability to add videos to your Favorites list. Noisli and Hatnote  (my favorite site ever!!) are other sites previously referenced on this blog that could be utilized as brain breaks or to increase mindfulness.

Classroom Noise Level

If you have ever had your students working collaboratively, then you might have found yourself reminding them to be mindful of their noise level.  Today's tip provides several websites that you can display for your students during group work time to indicate the volume of the classroom. I can imagine it was entertaining to watch me get these sample screenshots for you. 1. Bouncy Balls This one is probably my favorite.  Go to the bouncy balls website and display for your students.  You will have to allow access to the microphone with any of these sites.  Set the sensitivity of the microphone and watch the balls bounce around.  When students are too noisy, the balls bounce higher and a notification will appear.  You can choose what item is bouncing around (eyeballs, emojis, bubbles, and more). 2. Storify as a Research Tool

Storify is a free curation tool that allows users to find information using a specific hashtag or keyword(s).  When searching, Storify will pull Facebook posts, YouTube videos, tweets, news articles, sound bites, GIFs, etc.  If it was posted with the hashtag you are using to search, you can pull it up.  Storify does require that you log into your social media accounts if you intend to search there.  For this purpose, you could use a classroom account so students are not logged into their own and getting distracted. Students can use the tool to curate content on current events, historical events, people, etc.  Let the students be creative.
