PBS Learning Media

PBS Learning Media is very similar to what Learn360 offers.  "Resources are aligned to Common Core and national standards and include videos and interactives, as well as audio, documents, and in-depth lesson plans. You can browse by standards, grade level, subject area, and special collections. You can also favorite and share resources with your class and colleagues."  The Dashboard offers highlighted resources for different subject areas.

Creating an account is simple and free for both students and teachers.  Teachers have the capability to create folders and post assignments. Here are some of the features of PBS Learning Media:
  • Puzzle Builder:  Design custom word searches or crossword puzzles to review vocabulary or other content.
  • Lesson Builder:  Combine many of PBS' features such as video, images, and text to save to one location.  Share your lessons with colleagues and save them to favorites to reuse.
  • Storyboards: Create a storyboard to present new material, or students can create their own storyboards to illustrate understanding at the conclusion of a lesson.
  • Quiz Maker: Design assessments based on material within PBS.

In addition to the above features, teachers can simply show videos, images, or text in isolation. Searching for content is simple and you will find results in a variety of formats.
Results on your topic will give even more info such as duration, standards, ratings/reviews, and similar videos that might be of interest.  To share with your students, you can add to the lesson builder, have students log in and search, or do a "Quick Assign" in which you are given a code for students to enter at the home page to immediately access your content.

This is such a valuable free tool.  Take some time to play around with it and see what you can find for your content area or make the students do that for you!
